Er zijn al weer een paar dagen verstreken, maar hierbij dan als nog een verslag van de wedstrijd in Stanford USA. Klik op lees meer.
Afgelopen vrijdagavond om 20.58 uur precies moest het dan gaan gebeuren.
Op de dag van de wedstrijd had ik meer last van zenuwen dan normaal, omdat ik niet zo goed wist hoe mijn vorm was. Hoogtestage was voor mij behoorlijk pittig, ik ben gewoon geen hoogte-loper, heb heel wat keren flinke ademnood gehad. Toch ging het al wel een stukkie beter dan vorig jaar. Wel had ik dit jaar wat tegenslagen, 2 keer ziek geweest en een lichte blessure.
2 dagen voor de race, eenmaal terug op zeeniveau, had ik het idee dat ik echt vloog met mijn eerste duurloop, het ging echt heerlijk. Donderdag (de dag voor de wedstrijd) ging het 's ochtends voor geen meter, erg moe. Aan het eind van de dag gingen we naar de baan om daar nog wat enkele versnellingen te doen. Dit ging weer helemaal goed. Wel bleef ik deze dagen behoorlijk moe en sliep veel.
Maar toen het eenmaal vrijdagavond was en ik begon met mijn warming-up, voelde ik me super sterk en had het gevoel er helemaal klaar voor te zijn. De zenuwen waren verdwenen en had er super veel zin in!! En het bleek, ik was er klaar voor. Nog wel geen limiet, maar wel weer een mooi dik pr (4e in 32.34.46 )en ook heel vlak gelopen. Mooi om te zien dat ik weer een sprong heb gemaakt, ondanks een niet zo'n goede voorbereiding. In Mexico hebben we veel basiswerk gedaan, omdat het voor mij erg moeilijk was om snelheid te doen op hoogte.
Straks ik Nederland gaan we meer snelheid doen en tempohardheid trainen en dan straks knallen op de 10.000m in Marseille waar ik een tweede poging ga doen om het limiet te lopen.
Deze week nog een weekje vakantie hier in de omgeving van San Fransisco en dan van het weekend weer naar hius.
